On Campus Working
When I am working, I get assigned to do multiple jobs. Each one by itself offers a plethora of skills that I can apply to my work. One example would be when I took inventory and restocked items. While working, I learned to organize items so I can transport as many as I can in one trip from storage to the store front. I see this being used for both the organization of my art materials but also my artworks. Storing and sorting materials allows me to keep my work place tidy while organizing my works allows me to transport them more properly and can keep them in prime condition. Another skill I learned was identification. I use this when looking for proper materials that are used in an artwork and when storing my finished works. Leaving them in such a way that I can quickly access one at a later date is important to how I treat my artworks.
Taekwondo 2nd Degree Black Belt
While in High School, I was became a second degree black belt in Taekwondo. With this high ranking came responsibilities I had to uphold in the dojo. I was put in leadership positions to help lead students individually or the entire class and these experience lead to skills being formed. One such skill would be time management. Classes only lasted an hour so I learned when it was time to move on and how to stay on a tight schedule. This has translated to my work as I have learned to manage time on multiple projects. It has also allowed me to think realistically on how much time a certain project will take and which ones to prioritize. In addition to time management, I also learned discipline in the workplace. In the dojo, one learned to respect both those of higher rank and age, but the same respect was also shown to those who were either younger or new to taekwondo. For this reason, I gained an acceptance and appreciation to artists new and old. I have come to learn that everyone has something to bring when creating art and that everyone has something they can improve upon.
